LAW 7356: International Crimes: Treaties

This guide was specifically created for Professor Turner's International Crimes course and was not intended for general use outside of this course.

Treaties

International treaties often play a large role.  When researching, however, it is important to keep in mind that treaties are referred to by different names.  For example, statutes, conventions, protocols, accords, and covenants are all common names for treaties.

When beginning treaty research, you may want to consider the following questions:

o    Is there an applicable treaty?

o    Is it in force?

o    Has a particular country ratified the treaty?

o    Has that country made any declarations or reservations?

o    What is the citation and where is the full text?

Online Sources for Treaties

For the most part, multilateral treaties are easy to locate online. Below is a list of online sources for treaties.
