Requires registration. After signing in, run a search and view your search results. Click the "Share" link and select E-mail Alert from pop-up menu. The Create Alert window appears over the result list.
To create an alert for a query, do a search on Google Scholar as usual and click the envelope icon on the left side of the screen.

Create a search. Click the pin icon "Save Query" at the top of the results. Click "Turn on notification for this query" in the pop-up at the top of the page. Enter your email address to receive email notifications when there is an update to the query.
Citation Alerts
Citation alerts allow you to receive notification when a specific paper is cited by other sources. Various databases allow this service.
The alert is active for one year and is renewable.
Must be registered user. On article record page, select "Create Citation Alert" link in tool bar along right side of page.
Find citation in Google Scholar. Click on the “Cited by” link below the search result. Click on the envelope icon that appears at the top of the list of citing articles.
