The Underwood Law Library offers plenty of study spots for every style.
Each floor has tables seating 4–8 people, some in open areas, others tucked into quiet corners. For solo study, grab a carrel. No reservation or key required.
Group study rooms have the following rules:
Only law students may reserve a study room.
Each reservation is for a maximum of 2 hours.
You may reserve the room up to 6 days in advance, but you may have only 2 reservations pending at any time.
Two students must show ID when retrieving room key from circ desk.
Reservations are canceled 10 minutes after the hour if the key is not checked out. Improper reservations will be canceled.
Reservations may be made at: https://libcal.smu.edu/reserve/law.
If you like a bit of background buzz, try The Pit or one of our group study rooms.
On the 2nd and 3rd floors, tables in the center tend to be noisier because of the open ceiling design.
For true quiet, head to the 4th floor, our “absolute silence” zone, perfect for distraction-free studying.
