Southwest Airlines is a scheduled passenger airline operating out of Love Field in Dallas, TX. It began on June 18th, 1971 with service to San Antonio and Houston. In 1977, Southwest Airlines was listed as a public company on the New York Stock Exchange, trading under the ticker symbol LUV.
Dallas Love Field (DAL) began in 1917 as a training base for the U.S. Army during World War I. It became a commercial passenger airport in 1927 and has since grown to be the 32nd busiest airport in the U.S. and busiest medium-hub airport with over 17 million passengers traveling through it in 2023.
