In this class you will use the library collections to look for:
- Background information: Encyclopedias, reference entries, and bibliographies on your subject.
- Secondary sources: Resources that are written after the fact and give context to the topic that you are studying. Secondary sources often analyze primary sources and place them in context.
- Encyclopedias, dictionaries, bibliographies, books, and journal articles can all be secondary sources.
- Primary sources: resources created in the time period you are studying.
The Brainstorming Handout can help you think about and organize your topic, search terms, and research question.
