Accordance Bible Software (Guide): Interface

Accordance Bible software draws together a panoply of texts and sophisticated tools necessary for in-depth study of Biblical texts, both original language texts and translations, in a clean, intuitive interface.

1. Workspace – the “workspace” is the entirety of the window; you can have more than one workspace open at a time (but can only view one at a time)

2. Zone – within the workspace, you can have multiple zones open, and each will be visible simultaneously (zones will not be obscured); a new zone is created when you open a text or tool in a different category from the one you are viewing (e.g. if you are looking at the NRSV text and select “Anchor” from the new menu or your library, the Anchor Bible Dictionary will open in a new zone and it will remain visible even if you go back to working with the NRSV text)

3. Tabs – you can have multiple tabs open in each zone, but only one tab will be visible at a time (i.e. tabs can be obscured, whereas zones cannot).  Typically, Accordance will open similar texts/tools in a new tab, but in the same zone (e.g. if you are reading the NRSV and open the KJV, it will be opened in a new tab in the same zone)

4.  Search area/text pane – within a tab, there are two areas: (a) the search area contains the search box and other interface components that allow you to interact with texts and tools; (b) the text pane is the part of the screen in which the actual text appears (you can have multiple text panes open within a tab; texts that are open in texts panes in the same tab will be in sync

(1) Open a new workspace (1a), a new tab with a different text or tool (1b), or add a parallel text (1c); also under “File” menu

(10) When the “Recycle” icon is green, a new search will open in the same tab; when it is grey, each search will open in a new tab
