As you get started, you can get ideas from class discussions or readings.
If it is a topic you are just getting started with, look for background Information in reference resources.

Once you have identified a topic, select the terms and phrases that are essential to understanding the topic.
These databases are useful for both primary and secondary sources. For more specific resources to either primary or secondary sources, please see the tabs above
If you come across any source that you cannot access through SMU, Inter-Library Loan is always an option! If you fill out a request, the library can get whole books mailed here for you to check out (takes up to 1-2 weeks), or can provide copied or scanned versions of journal articles and other shorter sources (usually takes a couple days).
