Music Call Numbers

At SMU, we use the Library of Congress (LC) classification system. For music materials, we use:

M - Music scores
- Music literature
MT - Music theory and teaching

For CDs, Videos, and other media materials, we use our own unique numbers. For example, a call number like CD 03311 would be a compact disc. "Record JR 3399" would be a vinyl LP record. Media materials are located in our Audiovisual Center.

Library Catalog

You can use the Library Catalog to search for books, scores, CDs, and videos. Try the Advanced Search link on the Hamon home page!

If SMU doesn't have something you need, you should try WorldCat. Try the Interlibrary Loan tab above!
